How to Apply to IPDP

Eligibility

All IPDP programs are open to all Buffalo State graduate and undergraduate students who are in a teaching program or interested in working with children and youth in another capacity. Some programs are also open to our school partners. Our collaborative partner program (Rwanda) is open to all disciplines as well as alumni and community members.

Deadlines

  • November 1 prior to travel for short-term spring programs that include a spring semester course with summer travel.
  • April 1 prior to travel for short-term fall programs that include a fall semester course with winter-break travel.
  • Two semesters prior to student teaching semester for student teaching programs.
  • October 1 for Experienced Educator programs.

Important Considerations

  • DO NOT complete any information on the Study Away website until selected through the process described below.
  • DO NOT enroll in the course until selected through the process listed below and advised to do so.
  • The application process and acceptance period varies depending on the program. While some programs travel annually, others are held every other year. Review individual program pages for full details, deadlines and travel/course dates.
  • The process below does not apply to the Rwanda program. Visit the Rwanda program page for application details specific to this program only.

Application Process

  1. Applicant submits country-specific application to the School of Education Office of the Dean including an essay of intent, academic reference form, and copy of past grades and current course registration.
  2. Program leaders review applications.
  3. Prospective candidates are invited to interview with program leaders.
  4. Interviewed candidates are notified of acceptance decision before semester ends.
  5. Accepted participants receive “next steps” information from program leaders, including directions for completing SUNY application, initial fees, course enrollment information, and initial requirements.
